Robert Sanderson

–

Lake Havasu City, Arizona

Robert George Sanderson, a high-flying spirit and big fan of the great outdoors, left for his final adventure on February 23, 2024, at the age of 82, in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Born on February 24,1941, in Fairview, Montana, Bob charted a course through life that was adventurous and memorable to say the least.

Bob’s professional life was dedicated to the oil field industry, where his work ethic and expertise were highly regarded. He began his career as a roughneck and worked his way up. He was a consultant for several years and seemed to be able to envision any piece of equipment and have the ability to fix it without even being there. His career gave him great purpose and his passion showed through his commitment to the field.

Bob spent his leisure time pursuing different hobbies that spoke to his adventurous soul. He was a horseman, a fisherman, and a hunter. He always looked forward to hunting and fishing trips with his brothers, Ben and Jim. He was also an avid aviator. Bob had such a passion for flying that he bought an airplane before taking a single flying lesson, let alone getting a license! He and his buddy, David, loved flying together on a beautiful day. After retiring to Lake Havasu, Bob found great joy in exploring the desert with his fellow UTV riders. Their adventures made for some of his very favorite days. These hobbies were not just pastimes to him but a reflection of his love for life and the great outdoors.

His family was the crew he valued most, with his co-pilot and wife, Mary Lou, at the helm. Along for the ride were his daughter and her husband, Bobbi and Mark Breitwiser, his granddaughter and her husband, Danielle and Chris Towle, and his mini co-pilots, great-granddaughter Ellie Towle and great-grandson Luca Towle. Clearing him for the journey ahead were his brother, Ben Sanderson, and his parents, Alta Mae and Jim Sanderson. His remaining ground crew includes his brother and his wife, Jim and Vernette Sanderson, sister and her husband, Diane and Jim Lowry, sister and her husband, Jeannie and Dale Thomas, and sister-in-law, Cathy Sanderson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob will be greatly missed, especially his warm smile and the way he shared stories of his adventures with such joy. His memory will be treasured and kept alive in the hearts of those who knew him. His family and friends mourn his passing, yet celebrate the legacy of a life well-lived. Fly high, Bob, until we meet again in that great hangar in the sky!

A celebration of life for Bob will be held on Friday, March 1, out in one of his favorite spots on the desert. Please bring your favorite memories or stories about Bob to share, as well as your beverage of choice and a chair. We will gather at 11:00 a.m. and lunch will be served at noon. Call or text Bobbi at 406-321-4884 for details.
