Michael Rockney

–

Lake Havasu City, Arizona

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Micheal Galen Rockney, beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend, who peacefully passed with family by his side on the morning of November 10, 2024, in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. He had just celebrated his 78 birthday.
Born on October 12, 1946, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Michael was the eldest of three sons born to Galen and Marilyn Rockney. His family relocated to Van Nuys, California, where Michael, along with his younger brothers Russell and Terry grew up. Michael attended Birmingham High School and went on to study at Pierce College before answering the call to serve his country in 1966, joining the U.S. Army during a pivotal time in history. He worked at Hughes Aircraft for 20 years.
In 1971 Michael married Janis Barbosa and together they had their only daughter, Shay, in 1975. Shay was Michaels greatest accomplishment, as he always provided love and guidance to his daughter, with whom he shared many fond memories. Michael instilled in Shay a deep love of the great outdoors, sharing with her his passion for fishing, shooting, camping and horseback riding in the high country. Those outdoor adventures became treasured memories that Shay holds dear. Michael’s proudest moments continued with the arrival of his three grandchildren, Kailyn, Eva and Joaquin who brought him immeasurable joy.
In his later years, Michael found love again with Joan, who devoted herself to caring for him with unwavering love and support for the past 13 years. Joan, along with her children CeCe, Candi and CJ, provided him with companionship and comfort in his final years.
In early 2024, Michael moved to Lake Havasu City to live with Shay, her husband Jason and family. Together they shared their final months filled with love, laughter, and treasured moments. His memory will forever be cherished by his daughter Shay; son-in-law Jason Perez; three grandchildren Kailyn, Eva and Joaquin; his brother Russell and wife Patricia; his brother Terry and sister-in-law Lorrie; his many nieces and nephews; his former wife Janis Barbosa; his companion Joan and her children; his extended family and friends.
May Michael's spirit live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him.
