Melinda Amio

Melinda Amio passed away on May 4, 2023, from a short battle with aggressive metaplastic breast cancer. She was surrounded by her family and her 3 dogs, Riley, Lady Bug, and Jack. She was 75 years old. Melinda was born October 4, 1947, to Marjorie and Anthone Polzin. She was the second oldest of 6 children.

Melinda married Richard Amio in 1964 and together they had 4 children. Along with raising a family, Melinda worked in member services for a health care provider. She and Richard retired to Lake Havasu, AZ in 2004 where she enjoyed boating, bingo, and Reese’s peanut butter cups. Melinda was active in her community Love on a Leash organization where she shared her love of dogs with children, nursing homes and hospitals.

Melinda was a talented seamstress sewing clothes, blankets, and other accessories for friends and family. Melinda loved scrap booking and designing beautiful photo albums to memorialize special events in her children and grandchildren’s lives. She created handmade greeting cards for all occasions, baked the most incredible fudge at Christmas time and enjoyed decorating cakes for fun.

Melinda is survived by Richard, her husband of 59 years, 4 children
Kris Garcia(Richie), Susan Staszak(Jim), Richard(Jeannie Cook) and Becky(JD Lauing). She has 6 grandchildren, Lindsey, Breanna, Hannah, Paige, Spencer, and Mason. She has 2 great grand children, Scarlette and Jaxson.

The family will host a celebration of Melinda’s life in the fall of 2023.
