–

Lake Havasu City, Arizona

Maurice Ray Chevalier, 90, passed away on March 30, 2022.

Maurice was born on January 27, 1932, to Victor and Francis (Linde) Chevalier. He grew up in Council Bluffs IA, where he went to school and joined the Naval Reserve where he served for one year and then joined the Marines, but after 7 weeks in basic training was released due to a physical condition. He did serve proudly before being released from duty. As a young man he was nicknamed “Chevy” and was known by that throughout his life. He married wife Betty on April 14, 1962, spending many happy decades together. Sadly, his loving wife preceded him in death 6 years ago.

He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad in Omaha, NE from 1952-1964 and for the Santa Fe Railroad from 1965-1986 when he retired. They moved to Rialto in Southern California where he worked for the Santa Fe railroad from 1965-1978. He then moved to Mohave Valley, AZ with the promotion to Assistant Supervisor of Diesel Engines. He retired in 1986.

Maurice enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling with his family and also enjoyed model railroad train collecting and building.

He is survived by his four children: David, Debra, Maurice, Jr and Francine; stepdaughter Elizabeth and stepson Tony. He loved all his children, grandchildren and nieces and nephews deeply and was very proud of them.

He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Ann Pullen Chevalier.

He had one surviving brother, who sadly passed 9 days after Maurice.
