Marie O'Brien

Marie O’Brien, age 100 passed away peacefully on February 26, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Marie Andree Martinet O’Brien was born on November 3, 1922, to Renne and Harriet (Aroux) Martinet in Meilhan-sur-Garrone, France. She grew up in France and continued her education and became a nurse for the Red Cross in Occupied France during WWII. One of her patients was Army 28th Infantry Daniel O’Brien. They married in 1946, started their family in France, and moved to California. During this time, she was a homemaker and volunteer.

Marie lived a long life. she raised her 7 children and volunteered at the Catholic Church attending and caring for the adoptable children. Later on in life she loved being “Grandma”. She would always show you her pictures of her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She volunteered at the Senior Center in Long Beach, CA until the age of 95.

She will be remembered for many things throughout her long life. Her smile, her hats, and her charitableness. She was always on the go and happiest when she was giving of herself.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband and two sons, Patrick O’Brien and Clarence O’Brien.

Marie is survived her sons and daughters Michael O’Brien, Lake Havasu City, AZ, Christine Inglish, La Crescenta, CA, Danny O’Brien, Long Beach, CA, Andree O’Brien, AZ, And Timothy O’Brien, Lake Havasu City, AZ, 18 Grand Children, 25 Great-Grand Children, and 3 Great-Great-Grand Children.
