Margie (Margaret C. Johnson) was born Margarita Colón García on July 4, 1938, in Ponce, Puerto Rico to Norberta García and Manuel Colón. The family moved to Brooklyn, NY in September 1946. Margie attended P.S. 145 on Noll St and then graduated from Williamsburgh High School in 1956. She wanted to be a beautician, but the Lord had other plans. She worked for Woolworth and then joined AT&T where she scheduled phone installations and repairs. Margie loved giving her nieces and nephews Easter Baskets and gifts from her travels such as Spain and Jamaica.
She moved to Eau Claire, Wisconsin and married fellow AT&T employee Richard “Dick” Johnson, where they lived with -20F winters.
Margie and Dick were fortunate to retire from Wisconsin Bell. They left Milwaukee, WI for very warm Mesa, Arizona and then settled in Lake Havasu City. She and Dick loved to travel throughout the US visiting Mt. Rushmore, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, and northern Wiscinsin. They loved to feed the road runners. Dick passed away on November 8, 2007, in Lake Havasu City, AZ. Margie was an active parishioner at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, where she supported the grief team.
Margie loved making arts & crafts for Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving using small dolls, potholders, soda cans and other household items. She participated in the Red Hats Society, loved to play cards, Mexican Train, and watching Jeopardy.
Margie is survived by her stepdaughter, Roxanne Johnson, granddaughters, Kala Roppe (Scott) and Kassie Groeschl(Jeremy) and great grandsons Beau and Brody Roppe and Connor Groeschl.
Margie was preceded in death by her sisters Zulma Colón Herrera and Gilda Colón García.
