James (Jim) Edward Tassell, Jr. passed away on April 9, 2026, in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, at the age of 83.
Born on November 15, 1942, in New York to James Edward Tassell, Sr. and Madaline Howe, Jim was the son of a U.S. Navy Lieutenant Commander and lived in a variety of places during his childhood. His early years included time in major naval hubs such as San Diego and Long Beach, California, and he ultimately attended high school in San Diego.
Following in that tradition of service, Jim served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War era. He was raised alongside his siblings in this military environment, including his brothers Martin, Billy, and Alan Tassell.
Jim was a salesman through and through—a natural communicator with a true gift of gab. Over the years, he wore many hats and never met a stranger. From selling magazines, vacuums, and knives, to running a cactus business in Mohave, working in timeshare sales, and even operating a lingerie business alongside his brother Alan, Jim approached life with energy, charm, and an entrepreneurial spirit that defined him.
Jim had a lifelong love of animals, especially his dogs. His last two companions were both named Charlie—by chance—a detail that brought him comfort and a bit of humor in his later years.
Jim also spent many years in Las Vegas and time in Biloxi, Mississippi, working in the casino industry where he managed activities on the casino floors and served as a Pit Boss. During his time in Las Vegas, he formed a close and lasting friendship with Rebecca and Ben Donnellan, and the they spent many memorable hours together at Chubby’s Bar.
In his later years, Jim continued doing what he loved most—connecting with people—In 2017 he started working with London Bridge Resort while still residing in Las Vegas. Jim and his loyal companion “Charlie” quickly became local icons and set the standards within the Home Show, Car Show and Golf Show industry. In 2019, Jim and Charlie moved to Lake Havasu City and remained employed with London Bridge Resort until his passing. During his last years in Lake Havasu and at London Bridge Resort, he built many close bonds with his dear friends within the Vacation Ownership department especially, Lisa, Jennifer and Brandy.
Special thanks to ALL of those that made him feel wanted and welcomed. Special consideration and thanks go to his Supervisor, Adele Shea and her husband Jim Shea who became his
Havasu Family and were by his side making his final months much easier and enjoyable especially “Evenings with the “Guys” learning, reading and understanding scripture.
Jim always felt he had the best healthcare providers and always did his best to show his appreciation. Without each of you he would not have had such a wonderful life .and made navigating his way through any illness seamless – Dr, Marly Parker, Dr. Kim, Dr. Garcia, Dr. Alvardo, Maggies Cath Lab, Pharmacist Katelyn, Shereen, Cruz
Jim lived a full and adventurous life, always finding new opportunities and meaningful connections along the way. His ability to engage, persuade, and build relationships was not just a career—it was who he was.
Jim is survived by his daughters, Dina Tassell and Deborah Jennings; his grandson, Ibrahim Shiheiber; and his brother, Billy Tassell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Edward Tassell, Sr. and Madaline Howe; his stepmother, Dorothy “Ma” Tassell; brothers, Martin and Alan, and his granddaughter, Amanda Lynn Shiheiber.
Jim Tassell will be remembered for his charisma, his stories, his humor, and his remarkable ability to connect with people from all walks of life. He embraced old ethics of being on time and always wearing clothes that were clean and pressed professional. He leaves behind a legacy of resilience, warmth, and a life lived fully and on his own terms.
A celebration of life has not been scheduled at this time.
