Catherine Deverell

Catherine Lynn Stancil Deverell passed from this earthly life on March 10th, 2022. She was born in Sagamihara, Japan on April 12, 1959, to James Raymond Stancil and Hisako "Judy" Hamasaki Stancil.
She ultimately succumbed to the complications of Covid after an eight-month battle.

She loved her Lord, Jesus Christ, and her Heavenly Father. She also loved her parents and Japanese heritage fiercely and made the best Japanese food around!

She grew up in Southern California and enjoyed time in the sun and surf of the beaches there. She met and married Jerry Neal Nowland in 1978 and they had 2 boys together. They later divorced. She then met and married John Silva and they had 1 daughter together. They also later divorced. Later, she and Kevin Ray Deverell met and married. She lived a selfless life and was always serving others.

She spent her time working to provide for her family, loving on her dogs, crafting, making banana bread, driving fast, and on occasion letting others know they were number ONE!

Her 11 grandchildren were her whole world and she lived to make them happy. She frequently drove or flew hundreds of miles to be with them on their special days. She was also present to help all family and friends in any way possible.

Her presence in our family will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents James Raymond Stancil and Hisako Judy Hamasaki Stancil and sister-in-law Karen Stancil. She is survived by her husband Kevin Ray Deverell, her children Justin (Myriam) Nowland, Brandon (Kellie) Nowland, Charlene (Jason) Babor and Adam Deverell. She will be greatly missed by her brothers Jeffrey Stancil and Kenneth (America) Stancil, and sister-in-law Liane Stancil. She will be missed by her grandchildren: Alana, Benjamin, Brielle, Emma, Jenessa, Mark, Riley, Samuel, Spencer, Thomas, Zeke, her nieces Sophia, Shawna, Jessie, Ciera, and their families.
