Brenda Kay Shover
November 12, 1952 – August 28, 2026
Brenda Kay Shover, age 73, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026, in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, with her mother by her side.
Brenda was born November 12, 1952, in Abilene, Texas, to Glenn and Billie Louise (White) Mitcham. She grew up in Cortez, Colorado, before moving to Arizona. In the early 1980s, she worked at McCulloch in Lake Havasu City. She married Larry Shover in December 1981, and together they raised three sons. In 1988, the family moved to Central Illinois, where Brenda settled in the Rome area.
Throughout her working years, Brenda worked at Lawson's, Shopko, Kroger, and LaHood Construction Company before eventually leaving the workforce. She especially valued the friendships she made over the years, including the special bond she shared with her “Shopko girls.” She enjoyed spending time with friends, catching up, laughing, and sharing a margarita.
Brenda was an independent and creative person who enjoyed working with her hands. She especially loved knitting, crocheting, and crafting. She took on many unique projects, including making poly chord chairs and hanging planter shelves, which she sold under the name Brndr Creations. She also had a lifelong love of animals and cared for many pets over the years, especially cats, as well as the family dog, Alex. Brenda valued the friendships she made throughout her life and remained connected with many people who were important to her. She particularly enjoyed attending her high school reunion with her classmates in the Montezuma-Cortez High School Class of 1971.
In 2019, Brenda returned to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, where she wanted to spend her later years away from the cold Illinois winters. She was happy to return to Arizona and lived with her mother, Billie Louise, just north of the London Bridge. Being close to her mother and helping care for her was very important to Brenda.
Brenda is survived by her mother, Billie Louise Glacius of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; her three sons, Christopher Shover of North Pekin, Illinois, Travis Shover and his wife, Becky, of Washington, Illinois, Lance Shover of Bolingbrook, Illinois; and her niece, Deanna Goff of Scottsdale, Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her father, Glenn Mitcham, in 1974; her stepfather, George Glacius, in 1999; her former husband, Larry Shover, in 2022; her sister-in-law, Shelia Mitcham in 2024, and her brother, Frank Mitcham, in 2025.
Cremation rites have been accorded through Bradbury Memorial Center. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Details will be announced once arrangements have been finalized.
